As Ukrainians settle into the rhythm of war, those who are under everyday threat find ways to rebuild the world around them.

A soldier returns home for ten days, a chaplain grapples with the weight of responsibility, and a mother grieves the loss of her family while reconstructing her destroyed home.

These stories, amidst others, are a testament of Ukraine’s history, perseverance, and plea to be remembered.

Testament is radically empathetic and emotionally overwhelming in its unique approach to wartime filmmaking, using no archival footage and instead focusing on the first-person testimonies of those who are experiencing this war.

The film seeks to come to an understanding and healing in the present through a reconciliation with the past. The events of the film are in the past, and yet always present with us.
